Matt Hoyle is an author, illustrator, and creative director with a background built on narrative design and visual character creation. He spent two decades as an award-winning advertising creative director before channeling his passion into directing, writing, and visual art.

He created the book Comic Genius: Portraits of Funny People (published by Chronicle Books), bringing together over 130 comedy icons like Steve Martin, Robin Williams, and Ricky Gervais. Over the years, his creative work has won a Cannes Gold Lion and D&AD Awards, been exhibited at the National Portrait Gallery in London, and led to keynotes on the creative process. There are a million books in him. He’s now dedicated as an artist and writer to begin telling them with Nigel the Real Unicorn.
